Categories of adverbs

Swedish adverbs modify verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs. They answer questions like när? (when), var? (where), hur? (how), varför? (why), and i vilken utsträckning? (to what degree).

Rumsadverb — directional system

Swedish has a three-way directional system: vart? (direction to), var? (location at), and varifrån? (direction from).

Swedish spatial adverbs have three forms: direction to, location at, and direction from.

Satsadverb

Sentence adverbs modify the whole clause. In main clauses they come after the verb. In subordinate clauses they come before the verb.
Main: Hon kommer inte idag.
Bisats: ...att hon inte kommer idag.
